We are located in the heart of San Diego's trendy East Village district, minutes walk from the Gaslamp district where you can enjoy the multitude of bars, clubs, restaurants and shops that fill this area. Petco Park lies right on our doorstep. Catching a ball game is a quintessential part of American culture.

Lucky D's San Diego Hostels location is to be envied. We are only three short blocks (a two minute walk) from the heart of the Gaslamp which means that when you are done partying you will be able to walk back to Lucky D's hostel to enjoy a quiet nights sleep. We are so centrally located that almost all of San Diego's area attractions can be reached by foot or a short bus ride.
No bus, taxi or car is needed to eat or drink at over 150 bars, clubs, restaurants and eateries. Supermarkets and health food stores on our doorstep will enable you to keep on budget with healthy eating at Lucky D's. Shop till you drop in downtown San Diego's fabulous boutiques. A short 30 minute bus ride will get you to San Diego's impressive beaches. Stroll down the boardwalk to Belmont Park and ride San Diego's famous wooden rollercoaster. Rent a bike and cruise up to La Jolla for breathtaking views. Surf, swim, sunbathe, eat, drink and party. Take in the sights, relax in the park. We suggest XPRESS Shuttle for a cheap convenient way to reach us directly. If arriving by plane, walk out front of the airport to the shuttle stand. Here you can catch XPRESS Shuttle to our hostel. If you are arriving by Greyhound or Amtrak then please call XPRESS Shuttle on their free phone number to arrange pick-up.
XPRESS operates 24 hours a day, 7 days a week.

Bus/Trolley
Lucky D's San Diego Hostel is 1/2 block from the local bus service which thoroughly services all of San Diego and vicinity.
From the Greyhound
Exit station onto Broadway and Front. Catch the #11 bus to Market and 8th. Our building is on the corner of Market and 8th. (About 8 minutes.) You need to enter from the 8th Ave side. Bus costs $2.25. You must have the correct fare as they will not give change.
From Amtrak
Catch the Blue Line trolley marked San Ysidro. Get off the stop marked Park Blvd at Market Street. (About 7 minutes.) Walk 0.2 miles wets on Market to 8th Ave. Our building is on the corner of Market and 8th. You need to enter from the 8th Ave side. Trolley costs $1.75.
From the Airport
Catch the $992 Airport bus. Get off at 4th and G. (About 20 minutes). Walk blocks East to 8th. Make a right on 8th and walk 1/2 a block South. Our building is on the corner of Market and 8th. You need to enter from the 8th Ave side. Bus costs $2.25. You must have the correct fare as they will not give change.
By car
From North/South: Take 10th Ave exit. Turn slight y onto 10th Ave. Turn right onto Market. Turn right onto 8th Ave. We are on the corner of 8th and Market. You enter on 8th.
From East: Take the 8 West to the 163 South. Take 10th Ave exit. Turn slight y onto 10th Ave. Turn right onto Market. Turn right onto 8th Ave. We are on the corner of 8th and Market. Lucky D’s Hostel has many amenities to ensure all guests enjoy their stay in downtown San Diego. One of Lucky D’s most enjoyed amenities is our enormous party room. This well equipped room is where our hostels nightly parties take place and travelers enjoy meeting each other. During the day it is the perfect place to hang out, read a book or watch a movie. At night, things get more lively with our massive parties, many of them themed. When you are tired of the party it is easy to retire upstairs away from the noise as our party room is conveniently located on the ground floor away from all the rooms.
As well as Lucky D’s Hostel common room being a fantastic meeting point, Lucky D’s also runs many tours which offers travelers a fun way to see San Diego, whilst meeting and hanging out with their fellow backpackers.
We offer many cheap or free meals daily at Lucky D’s to help keep you on budget. For those who like to cook for themselves we have a large well equipped kitchen available for your use.
Keeping in touch could never be easier whilst staying at Lucky D’s Hostel. We proudly offer FREE Internet, both wired and wireless. We also have a large message board where you can collect, or leave, your messages. It is also a good place to find travel and entertainment specials.
Our hostel is completely renovated. Dorm rooms are clean and comfortable. Most sleep only 4, with a couple of larger rooms to accommodate the bigger groups.
Not as interesting but very handy is our laundry room where we provide free washing powder.
