Hosteria San Jorge is the place to choose if you want to stay in an eco-resort on a mountain overlooking Quito . The 25 room hosteria, once owned by 19 th century Ecuadorian President Eloy Alfaro, is 4km west of Avenida Occidental, on the road to Nono. It´s situated at an altitude of 3200km and is on the flanks of Rucu Pichincha. The hosteria has over 30 hectares and offers hiking, horse riding, bird watching and mountain biking, all of which can be arranged for a fee. There is an indoor cold spring water pool, sauna, whirlpool and steam room, as well as beautiful gardens and exotic birds. A restaurant serves local and international food, and a bar features a pool table, darts and other games for relaxing after an active day. Airport pickup costs $15 per person one way plus tax and all meals are available at moderate rates.
