Comments (English): We arrived in Rio to start our travels in South America. Prior to travelling we were concerned because our flight landed late and we didnt want to be travelling through the city late at night. Pousada Pitanga offer a collection service (R60) where a taxi driver who speaks English waits at arrival with a welcome card for you. This greatly helped us in acclimatising to the area. The taxi driver gave us a brief overview of Rio while bringing us to the Hotel. Lydie and her staff gave us a great breakfast with nice views and Lydie gave us advice on the places to visit and buses to take. The rooms are clean and spacious and the house is very secure from the road.
Overall it was a great place to start our adventure and ease into the reality of Rio de Janeiro,

Comments (English): Dear Bed and Breakfast Travelers, We had a magnificent stay at Pousada Pitanga for 5 nights! We would return!!! Lydie and staff were very helpful and attentive. They gave us excellent travel "tips" (directions, places to eat) in the Santa Teresa area and in Rio. Lydie speaks 4 languages: English, French, Spanish, and Portugese. She made us feel "right at home" while we were in Rio. The breakfast each morning was amazing---eggs, toast, ham, cheese, fruits, juice, coffee/tea, etc. The rooms were freshly painted with beautiful decor and hardwood floors. The bathroom is large and the warm shower was great! The area was quiet at night. The fans and air conditioning in the rooms also help one sleep when you are tired and need a good night'd rest after a 16 hour plane flight! The pool and central gathering area (living room) are nice places to read and relax. There is no TV and phone (but we welcomed that!). So, enjoy the lush garden scenery atop Santa Teresa at Pousada Pitanga, Lydie's 2 cats, the daily tram rides, the local fare, and the bird sounds of Rio!!! Bon dia, Sue and Ken Hoyt San Diego, California, USA

Comments (English): We stayed here our first night in Rio before travelling to nearby places. We came for my husband's conference which was in Barra da Tijuca and wanted to see other parts of Rio before we stayed closer to that venue. This is a completely different Rio than the beach area and I'm glad we experienced it. The owner is fabulous - she was a manager of 5 star hotels in Paris before moving to Brazil. She has impeccable standards of cleanliness for the rooms and is extremely hospitable, friendly, and helpful. The place itself is very quiet and peaceful. There are neighborhood noises of piano playing and a few barking dogs, but that added to the ambience. (The piano playing was during the day). You feel very very secure. There are multiple locked gates before you enter the part where the rooms are. There are wonderful restaurants in the area too. We spent our first night of 8 nights in and around Rio here and never equalled the quality of food, ambience, and price for the remainder of the visit. The Sobrenatural Restaurant nearby is highly recommended. In conclusion, we spent a fabulous first night in Rio here and it was a very comfortable place to recover from jet lag.

Comments (English): a wonderful place to stay. A peaceful retreat from the throng of Rio. Set in a tree filled court yard rich with bananas and mangos. Small pool with deck chairs and patio where the sun shines all day. Large,Bright, airy rooms. Hard wood polished floors, crisp white cotton bedding and pastel coloured accessories.Firm beds. large contemporary bathroom with bath and walk in shower. Hot showers! spotlessly clean throughout and very secure. simple healthy breakfast. We stayed in the 4 bedroomed suite ( pink ) we also booked out the twin (lime) room which was less beautiful but still nice.
